Project Engineer

About this position

The Project Engineer’s mission is to provide project and technical support services to ATR’s domestic and international clients. This technologically-savvy, personable individual will conduct key software configuration engineering, requirements consulting, user education, and provide ongoing technical support.

We are looking for a team player with technical know-how, an aptitude for learning quickly, and communication skills that adapt to various audiences. We need someone who can demonstrate our software to clients, gather requirements for software configuration, and provide instructional services as needed. This position reports to the Director of Project Services and provides project and technical support services to our clients.

Reports To: Director of Project Services

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Houston, Texas



  • Travel to client sites for requirements gathering and software demos
  • Configure software and database according to client requirements
  • Perform classroom and web-based instruction
  • Create job aids
  • Develop computer-based quizzes and test questions
  • Provide technical support to clients
  • Submit weekly reports, site acceptance reports, and other reports as requested


  • Domestic and international travel
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience giving compelling presentations to a variety of audiences using visual aids, PowerPoint presentations, and software demos
  • Multitasking multiple projects and duties
  • Good troubleshooting skills for software/environmental issues
  • Work closely with customers to develop custom configuration
  • Highly technology-savvy
  • Adept at learning and demonstrating technical software


  • Able to travel 50-75% (domestic and international)
  • Possess a credit card for travel expenses and reimbursed for approved travel expenses
  • Possess a valid passport for international travel
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must possess the ability to function independently and exercise professional judgment
  • Must possess the ability to train others
  • Must possess the ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
